Earth Days : Audio

Coverage by Nobuhiro Hosoki

Director Robert Stone

Story : Filmmaker Robert Stone creates a new documentary revealing historic events that have led to the initial Earth Day. Prior to the first Earth Day in 1970, Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring in 1962 opened the eyes of many individuals about the effects of chemicals in the environment. Quickly after the book’s publication, the environmental movement grew and strengthened. Now, in his documentary, Stone reveals the profiles of important environmentalists (including Stuart Brand, Rusty Schweickart, Stewart Udall, and Paul Ehrlich). He shows the many actions politicians have done and haven’t done for the environment since 1970.
